Cangrejeros de Santurce gave a strong performance in the debut of head coach David Rosario, defeating Arecibo 87-83 at the Roberto Clemente Coliseum. With this result, Santurce snapped Arecibo's five-game winning streak and moved up to fifth place in the Conferencia A of the Baloncesto Superior Nacional (BSN) with an 8-12 record. Arecibo, on the other hand, fell to 13-5 but remains in first place in the Conferencia B. "I felt a sense of urgency. It was a game that had to be won, no matter what, because they had lost some games at home and were on a five-game winning streak," Rosario said in a post-game press conference. "With my experience, I've learned that you can't put too much pressure on these players because they have a lot of experience and a lot of mileage. My idea was always to talk to each one of them and tell them that, regardless of the moment, the important thing was to play with commitment and responsibility because when you play for a franchise like Cangrejeros de Santurce, you have to know where you stand." Jordan Howard led the Cangrejeros' offense with 19 points, including six three-pointers in eight attempts. Ian Clark followed with 16 points, while Ángel Rodríguez and Davon Jefferson added 14 each. D.J. Wilson, the Cangrejeros' new reinforcement, debuted with nine points and nine rebounds. For Arecibo, Justin Reyes was the top scorer with 26 points. Jack McVeigh (16), Timothy Soares (13), and Ramses Meléndez (12) also finished in double digits. Santurce entered the fourth quarter trailing by three points (66-63), but regained the lead with a basket by Ian Clark with 6:47 remaining. The Cangrejeros then pulled away by 76-72 after a seven-point run that ended with a three-pointer by Clark. Minutes later, Arecibo responded and reduced Santurce's lead to 82-80, after a layup by Reyes with 2:49 remaining. However, the Cangrejeros resisted Arecibo's push and secured the close victory in their home court.
